Join us for a name and pronoun badge-making workshop. This workshop will be a free form drop-in workshop, basic materials supplied – though we encourage you to bring extra supplies if you’d like to dabble in something more involved (eg. sewing a patch.)
This will serve as a safe space to explore pronouns (he / she / they / xi / fey etc), and engage in casual critical conversations surrounding how binary gender informs our lives, narratives, histories and language.
This event will take place on Whadjuk Noongar boodja, near Kuraree, once a gathering place for Whadjuk Noongar people where Perth Town Hall now stands. We acknowledge our privileges in working as settler artists on stolen land. Furthermore, we acknowledge the contributions of LGBTQIA+ Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and individuals to the places and cultures from which we work and connect. Sovereignty is unceded. Always was and always will be Aboriginal land.
Aisyah Aaqil Sumito and Anita Cummins are queer artists based in Boorloo (Perth) and Narrm (Melbourne).
The workshop will run after Anita’s artist talk, which begins at 3:30pm. MORE INFO >
